Friday: December 2, 3:30-5:30 pm MST How do you imagine your soul? St. Teresa of Avila wrote, “Always imagine your soul as vast, spacious, and plentiful. To do so is no exaggeration.”
Our unconscious naturally produces meaningful symbols. Symbols can guide us to feel our way into the ineffable and illuminate psyche’s unfolding in individuation. Psychology and Spirituality meet in symbols of transformation.
Psychiatrist Theresa Yuschok will honor both Freud and Jung’s contribution to the unconscious and collective unconscious, respectively as Jung wrote, “Whatever else the unconscious may be, it is a natural phenomenon that produces symbols and these symbols prove to be meaningful.” As we walk though each of the “morada” or rooms of the spiritual classic of mysticism, The Interior Castle we will amplify the universal symbols of soul growth and aspects of consciousness.
Theresa A. Yuschok, MD is a psychiatrist with special interest in the interface of Spirituality and Mental Health and she wrote a play on St.Teresa of Avila “The Saint with a Tambourine“. She is associated with both Duke and Durham VAMC. She serves as President of the C.G.Jung Society of the Triangle Area of NC.
